MANILA - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Wednesday it would provide a lump-sum cash aid amounting to P5,000 to private sector workers affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

The financial assistance will be extended to workers employed in private establishments that have adopted flexible working arrangements or had to close temporarily because of the lockdown, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III told radio DZMM.

All workers nationwide, whether they are permanent, probationary or contractual, are entitled to the cash aid.

Bello said private companies should submit a revised establishment report form (ERF) and the company payroll for the month of February or earlier.

The financial assistance will be disbursed by DOLE's regional, provincial and field offices directly to the employees' payroll account through bank transfer at the soonest possible time upon receipt of complete documentary requirements.

For cash payroll, the financial assistance should be received through money remittance.

DOLE earlier said that about 250,000 workers are expected to benefit from its COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) with a budget of P1.3 billion.
