CEBU CITY -- The brother of businessman Peter Lim was involved in an ambush incident in Cebu City on Saturday.

Dioscoro Fuentes, the spokesperson of Lim, confirmed to ABS-CBN News that the businessman's brother, Wellington Lim, was the one on board the vehicle that was ambushed in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City.

"Yes, si Wellington maoy sakay sa vehicle nga giambush (Yes, Wellington was on board when the vehicle was ambushed)," said Fuentes.

According to Fuentes, Wellington Lim was not hurt since the vehicle is bullet-proof.

"Wala ra maunsa si Wellington because bullet-proof ang sakyanan (Wellington is not hurt because the vehicle is bullet proof)," Fuentes added.

Fuentes also said that Peter Lim was not inside the vehicle during the incident.

Fuentes did not confirm whether Wellington Lim has a unit in the condominium building where he and his driver sought refuge after being ambushed.

According to Fuentes, it was the driver's decision to go to Cebu I.T. Park to be safe as there were many people at the time.

"I cannot confirm if naa silay unit sa condo but decision na to sa driver nga moadto siya sa I.T. Park kay daghan tawo and ila gipark sa condo aron ilang masecure ilang kaugalingon (I cannot confirm if they have a unit in the condo but it was the driver's decision to go to the I.T. park for them to be safe and park in the condo building to secure themselves)," Fuentes said.

Meanwhile, the Cebu City Police are still investigating the incident and are in the process of confirming the identity of the person on board the ambushed vehicle because the victim did not report the incident.

A security guard was killed while 3 others were wounded after gunmen shot at the vehicle of a drug-tagged businessman on Archbishop Avenue, Cebu City, police said Saturday.

A security guard identified as Wilson Bucay died, while George Lambatan, another guard, and German nationals Basbach Pauline and Goerrings Manual, sustained wounds following the attack.

The guards were manning a bar while the German nationals were just passing by when the shooting happened, police said.
