MANILA - The Bureau of Customs (BOC) said Tuesday 2 of its employees were considered patients under investigation (PUI) for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The 2 workers are assigned at the Manila International Container Port (MICP), which has been temporarily closed for disinfection, BOC spokesperson Vincent Philip Maronilla said.

The 2 BOC personnel will work from home while MICP will also continue to process shipments arriving at the port, he added.

"We have alternative plans on how to process shipments in MICP without compromising the health and safety of our personnel," Maronilla said.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Philippines has recorded 552 COVID-19 cases, with 35 deaths and 20 recoveries.
