Twenty Filipino tourists and 3 crews were rescued Friday from a distressed boat in the waters of Miniloc Island in El Nido, Palawan.

According to the Philippine Navy, they were patrolling when they noticed the boat Queen Cleopatra at her port quarter with passengers waving their hands as a distress signal and found that the vessel was already dead in the water.

The Navy said the boat experienced an engine failure which, if the vessel was not rescued on time, might have caused it to drift and capsize.

The boat has been towed to the shoreline of El Nido, while the rescued passengers arrived safely at the El Nido Pier at around 6 p.m. Friday.
