KATIPUNAN, Zamboanga del Norte – A drug suspect who escaped from detention last month has been rearrested in Ozamiz City, Thursday.
Joey Sarigumba, 31, who escaped along with fellow inmate, Winefredo Luminarias, escaped while confined inside the Zamboanga del Norte Medical Center because of hernia, C/Insp. Robert Agda, Police Chief of Katipunan town, said.
Sarigumba was recaptured during an entrapment operation where cops pretended to be the suspect's friend who can lend him money, Agda said.
"Police found a lead to track Sarigumba when he tried to contact his friend, Ryan, asking for money. He was not aware that we were the ones texting him," Agda said.
Sarigumba will face an additional 11 years imprisonment on top of his reclusion perpetua sentence.
