MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered that government frontliners in efforts versus the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) be given hazard pay, the office of Senator Bong Go said on Sunday.

The order covers government personnel who physically report for work while the enhanced community quarantine is being implemented, Go said.

According to Go, who was Special Assistant to the President before becoming a senator, the Administrative Order will be released on Monday morning.

“These personnel, who risk their lives during this time, deserve to be recognized and be given proper compensation,” Go said.

The hazard pay to be given will not exceed P500 per day per person. Personnel who occupy regular, contractual or casual positions, or who are engaged through contract of service, job order or similar schemes are qualified, Go said.

The personnel, however, must have been “authorized to physically report for work at their respective offices on the prescribed official working hours” by the head of the agency or office.
