MANILA - Around 1,000 passengers on a northbound MRT train were offloaded Thursday night at Buendia Station due to "door failure."
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the passengers were loaded on the next train, which arrived 8 minutes later.
"One cause of door failure is stress in door components which may have been caused by leaning on the door or forcing it open," it said.
The DOTr reminded passengers "not to lean on the door or force it open."
On Monday, the MRT offloaded 400 passengers also due to door failure.
Around 500,000 commuters use the MRT-3 every day to travel on EDSA, Metro Manila's busiest thoroughfare.
