MANILA - The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is still searching for 12 passengers of a small motorized boat that went missing Sunday evening off the coast of Mariveles, Bataan.
The boat's passengers were indentified as Angelito Silva, Michael Baybay Sr., Michael Baybay Jr., Edwin Platetas, Levy Platetas, Ashly Digico, Ramon del Rosario Sr., Ramon del Rosario Jr., Thea del Rosario and Christian Silva. Two other passengers have yet to be identified.
The boat's passengers came from Naic, Cavite and visited Bataan to attend a town fiesta there.
According to the Rolando Rolloda, Chief Master at Arms of the Bataan Coast Guard, they received a report about the missing boat only on Monday.
Rolloda said they immediately conducted search and rescue operations, but failed to find any trace of the missing vessel and its passengers.
He said they did not monitor any weather disturbance on the day the boat sailed. But he said waves sometimes get strong in the waters of Bataan because of the Northeast Monsoon.
He added that the missing boat is not classified as a passenger vessel and is not allowed to sail with more than 4 passengers.
Rolloda said the Bataan Coast Guard has already sought the help of coast guard stations in Cavite, Manila, Corregidor and Lubang islands as they continue searching for the missing boat.
Fishermen in nearby seas were also asked to report if they see any signs of the missing vessel.
