MANILA (UPDATE)- The showing of a pornographic video on a billboard in the Makati financial district may have been a "malicious attack," its operator said Tuesday.

A report has been lodged before the police cybercrime office, Globaltronics said in a statement. Makati Mayor Abby Binay has ordered the shut down of the billboard and an investigation into the incident.

"The company is fully cooperating with the city government in seeking justice for this malicious attack, not only to Globaltronics but possibly to all similar digital media platforms," it said.

Globaltronics described the explicit video showing as a "momentary issue." Some pedestrians posted video of the billboard on social media.

"The company concurrently sees this case as an opportunity to commit itself and be at the forefront of the drive against cybercrime," according to the statement, signed by Globaltronics chief operating officer Joseph Evangelista.

Binay said the billboard will remain closed pending results of the investigation.
