MANILA - After the denial from Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, the lawyer of businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles evaded questions on the supposed advise from the Palace on the transfer of the "pork barrel" scam suspect to the Department of Justice.
"No comment," Napoles' counsel Stephen David said.
David said Monday that Medialdea and Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre advised him to file a motion before the courts hearing the plunder cases of Napoles, instead of securing an outright order from the DOJ to release her.
Napoles' lawyer said that the under the Witness Protection, Security and Benefit Act, a state witness shall be secured by the DOJ and be given a safe house.
Napoles is now "provisionally accepted" to the WPP, based on a certification issued by the DOJ on Feb. 27.
The Sandiganbayan 1st Division meantime ordered the DOJ to comment on the transfer of Napoles and her provisional admission to the Witness Protection Program.
