Cop shoots drinking buddies; 2 dead, 4 hurt

ILOCOS SUR - A policeman was arrested after shooting six people in Brgy. Maynganay Sur in the town of Santa Maria on Saturday night.

Two were killed while 4 others were wounded after PO1 Randy Castro Garnace shot them.

The casualties were identified as Marcial Antolin and Mark Hanzel Ordoñez. The injured meanwhile were identified as Felipe Pineda, Richard Jacosalem, Raymon Cabanting and Isagani Calibuso.

Garnace is a resident of San Esteban, Ilocos Sur but is presently assigned at the Navotas City Police Station with the newly formed Drug Enforcement Group.

Initial investigation revealed that Garnace and the victims were having a drinking spree in a bar when a quarrel ensued, prompting the suspect to shoot the victims several times using a caliber 9mm gun.

The victims were immediately rushed to Ilocos Sur District Hospital - Narvacan, but Antolin and Ordonez were declared dead on arrival.

The other injured victims were later transferred to different hospitals in Vigan City and are now undergoing treatment.

Garnace is now under the custody of Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur police station.
