MANILA - Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said Wednesday he has ordered hotels and other lodging businesses in the capital to provide shelter for healthcare workers amid the rising number of cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Philippines.
In an executive order signed by Moreno, hotels, motels and others will be commandeered to accomodate healthcare workers in Manila who live outside the city.
Moreno said Sogo, Eurotel, and Town & Country agreed to accomodate the health workers.
Sogo will provide 421 rooms, Eurotel will allot 50 rooms, and Town & Country will have 140 rooms for the frontliners.
Moreno also said Robinsons Malls, 168 Mall, and Settimo Drago Ratto Properties Inc. will waive rental fees for their tenants in the city.
