MANILA - The local government of Mandaluyong on Wednesday said it was releasing the 13th month pay of its employees early, as workers brace for the impact of a month-long lockdown in Luzon.
The city's public information office said the early release of the 13th month pay will help employees cope with the effects of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The local government is also working on giving benefits for casual employees and job order employees.
The Mandaluyong government expects its employees to stay at home throughout the duration of the quarantine, except for those part of the emergency and relief sectors.
Shuttle services for such workers will be provided for by the local government, they added.
They are also seeking living quarters for medical staff who work in Mandaluyong but do not live there.
Some 6 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in the city, according to their health department; 9 people are considered under investigation and 201 are persons under monitoring.
