BAGUIO CITY - The valedictorian of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 2018 will receive a house and lot from real estate tycoon and former Senate President Manny Villar, according to an announcement at the graduation ceremony here Sunday.
The master of ceremony made the announcement as President Rodrigo Duterte awarded the presidential saber to Cadet First Class Jaywardene Galilea Hontoria, who topped 282 mistahs of the "Alab Tala" Class of 2018.
PMA information officer Lt. Col. Reynaldo Balido confirmed that the house and lot given to Hontoria was from Villar.
This is the first time that a PMA graduate received such a gift from a public official, Balido said.
Hontoria, a brigade company commander, is the third class baron of the academy who graduated as valedictorian.
The son of farmer from Pavia, Iloilo, Hontaria is set to marry his college sweetheart Loura fe Dillera immediately after the graduation rites.
