COTABATO CITY - Cotabato City Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi is placing Cotabato City on lockdown starting Tuesday, March 17, amid growing concerns about the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
"I know this is an abrupt move but I am appealing to the public to understand the drastic measures that we are implementing as of the moment," she said in a statement.
The city has yet to record a single positive novel coronavirus patient, but is taking a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the virus.
Entry points will be temporarily closed until it is deemed safe to reopen, Guiani-Sayadi added.
The city on Monday also implemented a community quarantine to prevent possible carriers of COVID-19 from entering southwestern Mindanao's economic center.
