MANILA -- Tropical Depression Chedeng maintained its strength as it continues to move westward, state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday.
In its 11 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Chedeng was last spotted 725 kilometers east of Davao City, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and 60 kph gusts.
The storm may make landfall over the eastern coast of Davao Oriental between Monday evening and Tuesday morning, PAGASA said.
Signal No. 1 was raised in Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Davao del Sur, Davao City and southern part of Davao del Norte including Samal Island.
Chedeng may bring moderate to heavy rains over Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, and Davao del Norte on Monday, and in most parts of Mindanao on Tuesday, the weather agency added.
