An Abu Sayyaf bandit was killed Thursday afternoon in a clash with government troops in Patikul town, Sulu, the military said.

Brig. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Joint Task Force Sulu, identified the fatality as Roger Samlahon.

The 2nd Special Forces and CAFGU Active Auxiliaries also recovered a firearm, ammunition, and personal belongings at the site of the firefight.

Sobejana said the gunfight between the state troops and some 30 members of the Abu Sayyaf Group took place at Barangay Latih.

It lasted about 45 minutes until the bandits withdrew, leaving Samlahon behind.
