TUBOD, Lanao del Norte - Residents of Lanao del Sur converged here on Thursday to join locals at the public hearing and consultation on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law.
Many brought posters and signs expressing their support for the passage of the bill.
Police forces barred residents of Lanao del Sur from getting inside the Mindanao Civic Center where the hearing was held. Residents with opposing opinion also stood their ground.
An attendee complained before the panel why they were barred.
Lanao del Norte Rep. Abdullah Dimaporo said the residents of Lanao del Sur will have their own time in Marawi tomorrow. Dimaporo said the hearing intends to hear the sentiments of the people of Lanao Del Norte.
Governor Imelda Dimaporo earlier expressed support for the quick passage of the bill but maintained that residents should decide their fate.
The municipalities of Tangkal, Baloi, Tagoloan, Munai, Nunungan and Pantar in Lanao Norte were listed for inclusion in the Bangsamoro Area.
