MANILA - A magnitude 5 earthquake jolted towns and cities in the Northern Mindanao region Thursday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The center of the tremor, which was tectonic in origin, was located 19 kilometers west of Talakag town in Bukidnon. It was monitored at around 3:19 p.m.
Intensity IV was felt in Iligan City, Intensity III in Cagayan de Oro City, and Intensity II in Kalilangan, Bukidnon.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected but they do not expect this to cause damage to structures in quake-hit areas.
