MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte will fully support Special Assistant Bong Go's candidacy if he decides to run for Senate, a spokesperson said Wednesday.
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar quoted Duterte as saying that he will "support Bong Go to the hilt."
"I believe that SAP Bong Go's vote is the vote for the President also. He is winnable. My fearless forecast is he will land one to three slot," Andanar told reporters.
Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte earlier endorsed Go's run for senator. Go has said that he will serve the President "until death."
"Pangako ko po sa Pamilyang Duterte pagsisilbihan ko po ang kanilang ama habambuhay kahit saan man po kami pupulutin balang araw, dahil po malaki ang utang na loob ko sa Pamilyang Duterte. Kahit saan man ako dalhin ng aking kapalaran, sasamahan ko si Pangulong Duterte hanggang kamatayan," Go said in a statement.
Andanar and other Cabinet members have organized a campaign to encourage Go to run.
Aside from Go, the President is also endorsing the Senate bids of his spokesman, Secretary Harry Roque, and former MMDA Chairman and now political adviser Francis Tolentino.
