Magnitude 4.0 quake jolts Eastern Samar

MANILA - A magnitude 4.0 earthquake rattled Eastern Samar province on Saturday dawn, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The quake struck at 3:44 a.m, some 56 kilometers northeast of San Policarpo town.

It was tectonic in origin and struck at a depth of five kilometers, Phivolcs said.

No damage was reported.
