HONG KONG - Otso Diretso candidates on Saturday warned the public against fake election surveys that are being floated in traditional news and social media.
“Wag muna tayo maniwala agad sa lumalabas na survey hangga't maconfirm natin na yun ay talagang tunay,” senatoriable Chel Diokno said, adding that surveys are not the only gauge of what the public wants.
Florin Hilbay, meanwhile, accused the administration party of resorting to fake surveys, after Hugpong ng Pagbabago chairperson and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said honesty is not an election issue.
“If there leader would say that honesty is no longer an election issue and several days you have fake surveys coming from one of their candidates then it binds them all," he said.
He encouraged voters to shun old politics that resorts to old tactics that do no good to the country.
“Ang bawat eleksyon ay isang taya, at kung tumaya nang tumaya sa luma at walang nangyari baka po gustong tumaya sa bago, baka po may mangyari,” Hilbay said.
Romulo Macalintal claimed he got information that leading survey groups have been subcontracting the data gathering which may result in compromised information.
“Kung yun ang nangyayari parang hindi original ang result na inilalabas ng survey group o companies. Ang inaasahan ng taong bayan sila talaga ang gumawa noon," he said.
“We ask Comelec to dig deeper into this matter para mawala allegations ng fake surveys na lumalabas."
