Residents were stranded on the streets of Lamitan City in Basilan due to flooding caused by non-stop rains.

BASILAN - More than 100 police officers sent to Basilan from Metro Manila rescued flood-hit villagers on Thursday in Lamitan.

Fifteen barangays in Lamitan were flooded following non-stop rains in the city.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) deployed 109 policemen to Lamitan to conduct rescue operations.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier ordered the transfer of cops facing administrative charges to Basilan.
