CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - Cagayan de Oro City police have arrested a taxi driver who was allegedly selling shabu and recovered P2.3- million worth of suspected illegal drugs from him.
Sobair Mimbalawag, a 26-year-old taxi driver, was arrested in a buy-bust operation after he allegedly sold shabu worth P1,500 to an undercover cop.
Two more sachets of shabu were confiscated from him.
During interrogation, Mimbalawag revealed that more sachets of drugs were packed in a plastic container that was buried in his backyard in Barangay Balulang.
Police said around half a kilo of drugs were found in his backyard.
Police Senior Inspector Maricris Mulat said the suspect was considered a high-value target and they had been planning his arrest since January this year.
However, their plan to capture Mimbalawag was postponed after President Rodrigo Duterte suspended the police from operations against illegal drugs.
Mimbalawag denied that he is a big-time pusher and claimed that he was just asked to bury the items by an unidentified man who offered to pay him P500 in return.
The suspect is set to face criminal charges.
