DAVAO CITY—Two patients are under investigation in this city after showing symptoms of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a local hospital official said Saturday.
Dr. Leopoldo Vega, chief of the Southern Philippines Medical Center, said the patients have been isolated at the hospital where they also underwent tests.
Vega, meanwhile, assured the hospital is ready to accept and respond to patients with COVID-19 symptoms.
Earlier Saturday, Philippine health authorities raised Code Red after it confirmed another case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 6.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III also confirmed the country's first case of local transmission, a 62-year-old man now suffering from severe pneumonia.
A Code Red alert means all hospital personnel are required to report for duty in their respective facilities to provide medical services.
