MANILA- A Manila police officer was ordered relieved from his post on Wednesday as he faces investigation after he allegedly mauled an 18-year-old in San Mateo, Rizal.
PO1 Mark Gil Justo of the Manila Police District (MPD) was ordered relieved by Metro Manila Police chief Director Oscar Albayalde and was placed under MPD custody.
"Pina-relieve na natin. Nasa custody na ng MPD," Albayalde told reporters.
Justo allegedly mauled an 18-year-old in San Mateo, Rizal last Feb.22. The incident was caught on CCTV.
Albayalde said Justo explained that when he parked his vehicle in front of his house, he saw 3 people and told them that he was a policeman.
The 3 allegedly ran away, prompting Justo to chase them until he reached them at a store.
The 18-year-old, however, said he was just sitting when Justo punched him.
Justo may face charges of grave misconduct, which can lead to his dismissal from the service.
