MANILA - The Commission on Appointments (CA) confirmed on Wednesday 2 senators and 6 district representatives as colonels of the Philippines' military reserve force.

Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and House Deputy Speaker Rodolfo Fariñas were confirmed as Marine reservist colonel and Judge Advocate General Service reservist colonel respectively.

Also confirmed were Senator Manny Pacquiao and representatives Gwen Garcia of Cebu, Bai Sandra Sema of Maguindanao, and Roy Loyola of Cavite as Army reservist colonels.

Senator Loren Legarda and Davao Oriental Representative Joel Mayo Almario, meanwhile, were confirmed as Air Force reservist colonels.

Senate President Koko Pimentel had to escort Alvarez and Fariñas after they arrived late for the confirmation hearing.

Senator Gringo Honasan, who chaired the panel, called their attention on this.

"Supposed the enemy is on time. Nakakahiya naman sa kalaban. And you are wearing the uniform," said Honasan, stressing he and Senator Panfilo Lacson arrived hours before the hearing.

But after this, Honasan requested for "any derogatory statement" he may have made during the session to be stricken off the records of the CA.

Aside from the lawmakers, the CA also confirmed the appointments of military officials Major General Rene Glen Paje and Army reservist Col. Marlyn Agabas.--report from Sherrie Ann Torres, ABS-CBN News
