DAVAO CITY - The human resources head of the local government of Davao City has declined to comment on the employment status of those implicated by retired police officer Arturo Lascañas in his testimony at the Senate on Monday.
Human resources head Atty. Erwin Alparaque neither confirmed nor denied the employment of Jerry Trocio and Sonny Buenaventura in the city hall.
"As of the moment, we have to check our files and records and we just refer the same to the Senate if we will be asked to appear before the said body or committee for this inquiry but as of this moment, I cannot confirm yet a name Jerry Trocio is an employee either regular or job order or contract service," Alparaque said.
Alparaque also cannot confirm nor deny the employment of Buenaventura.
"It is a public knowledge that he's a part of the security or the sortie of Mayor Rodrigo," he said.
Alparaque said he is ready to appear in the Senate inquiry if needed.
During Monday's Senate inquiry, Lascañas confessed that he was among those who killed broadcaster and former Davao City councilor Jun Pala, following an alleged order from then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
According to Lascañas, a certain Jerry Trocio, a close friend of Pala, served as an insider and provided information about the slain broadcaster.
He claimed that he was hired by Duterte to kill Pala through SPO4 Sonny Buenaventura, who was allegedly Duterte's driver and aide.
