MANILA - The alert level on Mayon Volcano was lowered one notch on Tuesday, indicating "decreased tendency" towards hazardous eruption, state volcanologists said.
There had been a "decline in the intensity and frequency" of ash and lava emissions, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated around Mayon, one of the country's most active volcanoes, since it emitted ash and lava from January.
The alert level was lowered to 3 from 4. Alert level 4 meant a hazardous eruption was imminent.
