MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte will ask the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to review and work on the amendment of the government procurement law, Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol said Monday.

According to Piñol, the president wants to revisit the provision stating that the lowest bidder will be awarded government supply contracts.

"During today's 13th Cabinet Meeting in Malacañang, President Duterte said the lowest bid does not guarantee quality products being procured by government," Piñol said in a Facebook post.

Piñol added that the president said quality should be given premium over the lowest bid. - with a report from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
