MANILA (UPDATE) - The public remained satisfied with Vice President Leni Robredo after her brief stint as anti-drug interagency co-chair, while the leaders of the Senate and the House of Representatives were rated "very good," an independent survey showed Tuesday.
Robredo's net satisfaction rating stayed "good" at +36 in December 2019 from +33 in the previous quarter, according to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.
The pollster attributed the rise in the Vice President's rating to increases in Metro Manila (+25), Mindanao (+38), and Visayas (+48), along with a "steady score" in Balance Luzon (+33).
Of 1,200 Filipino adults, 59 percent said they were satisfied with Robredo's performance as Vice President while 23 percent were dissatisfied.
In November, Robredo served as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs after accepting President Rodrigo Duterte's challenge to head government's anti-narcotics campaign.
The President fired her 19 days later, with Malacañang saying she just wasted the opportunity and used the post to attack the administration's anti-drug campaign.
In a statement, Robredo's camp thanked the public for continued trust and support.
"Makakaasa ang lahat na ipagpapatuloy ni VP Leni ang kanyang paglilingkod sa bawat Pilipino, at ang matapang na pagtindig para sa karapatan at interes ng ating bayan," Gutierrez said.
(Everyone can expect that Vice President Leni will continue her service to Filipinos and her brave stance on the rights and interests of the nation.)
Senate President Vicente Sotto III also maintained his "very good" rating at +62, a slight increase from +61 in September 2019, with 7 out of 10 Filipinos saying they were satisfied with his performance.
The Senate's rating also stayed "very good" at +62 in December 2019 from +56 the previous quarter.
"Compared to September 2019, net satisfaction with the Senate stayed very good in all basic demographics except among class ABC where it fell from very good to good," SWS said.
In a statement, Sotto expressed gratitude for his rating.
"We thank the people for inspiring us in our work in the Senate. We try our best," he said.
Cayetano's rating, meantime, rose to a "very good" +53 from a "good" +49 in September 2019 after increasing in all areas except Balance Luzon, SWS said.
The survey was taken on Dec. 13 to 16, right after the country's hosting of the Southeast Asian Games, where Cayetano headed the organizing committee.
Results of the survey were just released more than two months later on Tuesday, just as Cayetano claimed an ouster plot against him was brewing in the chamber some 6 months before he is set to step down as Speaker in a term-sharing deal with Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco.
Majority or 67 percent of Filipinos said they were content with Cayetano's performance back in December, while 15 percent expressed discontent, SWS said.
The House of Representatives' net satisfaction rating also rose to a "very good" +51 from a "good" +43 in the previous quarter.
Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta, meanwhile, received a "moderate" +21 net satisfaction rating in his first quarter as top magistrate, with 40 percent of respondents saying they were satisfied with his performance, while 19 percent were not contented.
Filipinos' satisfaction with the chief justice was highest in Metro Manila (+27), followed by Mindanao (+26), Visayas (+18), and Balance Luzon (+17).
The Supreme Court, meanwhile, kept its "good" rating at +49 in December, a slight increase from +41 in the previous quarter following an increase in all areas, SWS said.
The satisfaction rating of President Rodrigo Duterte's Cabinet rose by 10 points to +45, keeping its "good" rating, after an increase in all areas except Metro Manila, the pollster added.
"Compared to September 2019, the Cabinet’s net satisfaction rating stayed good in all basic demographics, except among 18-44 year olds where it rose from good to very good," SWS said.
The fourth quarter poll was conducted from December 13 to 16, 2019 with a sampling error margin of ±3 percent for national percentages.
