Police have deployed a team to Boracay to scour the island paradise for road rage suspect Fredison Atienza, Quezon City Police District Director Guillermo Eleazar said Friday.

"Sa pakikipag-ugnayan ng aming manhunt team sa kapulisan sa Boracay, malaki ang paniniwala namin na nandun pa din siya," Eleazar said.

Data from airline companies showed Atienza was scheduled to fly back to Manila on March 1, and booked for an emergency ticket to Clark on February 28.

"Both booking hindi siya nagpakita doon," Eleazar said.
(He did not show up for both bookings.)

Police sources said Atienza was seen staying in Boracay's Short Time Hotel, Obama Hotel, and other tourist areas in the island.

He said investigators have not ruled out the possibility that a relative or a friend is deliberately helping Atienza evade arrest.

The QCPD chief appealed to the public to coordinate with authorities if they happen to chance upon the suspect.

Atienza, who was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser on Saturday, quarreled with motorcycle rider Anthony Mendoza after they figured in a near-collision at the corner of D. Tuazon and Quezon Avenue.

Minutes into their heated exchange, Atienza, without getting out of his vehicle, fatally shot Mendoza on the head.

The QCPD verified his identity based on CCTV footage of his car plate.
