CEBU - Nine Koreans were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday in a townhouse in Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City for their alleged involvement in sex tourism.
According to Arnel Pura, special investigator of NBI Region 7, they received reports of Koreans accompanied by young women in the said area. They conducted surveillance and learned that seven young women were in the same townhouse as the suspects.
The NBI, together with Cebu Provincial Women's Commission, launched an operation to rescue the young women. The women said that they were recruited by a woman believed to be a companion of one of the Koreans.
Pura said a case against trafficking in person will be filed against the recruiter while the Koreans will face expanded trafficking in person charges.
The charges will be filed on Saturday morning at the City Prosecutor's Office.
