MANILA- The Supreme Court banned Monday single-use plastics in its offices in a bid to support sustainability.

Items considered as unnecessary single-use plastics are plastic cups, plastic drinking straws, plastic utensils, plastic coffee stirrers, plastic labo, and sando bags.

While the ban was adopted, Supreme Court Public Information Office chief Brian Keith Hosaka said no penalties would be imposed on those who would violate the ban.

Adoption of the single-use plastics ban was announced to the heads of the high court's offices through a memorandum dated Feb. 28.
