MANILA--Public Works Secretary Mark Villar on Thursday said the department is facing challenges rolling out the infrastructure projects under the "Build, Build, Build" program.
“It’s a concern, but we’re able to address it. There’s a lot of workers here. We just have to make sure that we match the skills with the needs of companies,” Villar said on the sidelines of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 inauguration, echoing President Rodrigo Duterte's sentiments.
“There are just challenges, but I wouldn’t say there are major delays. Right-of-way challenges, but we formed task forces, and we’ve taken extraordinary steps even for this one.”
Villar also dismissed criticism that the loan agreement is more favorable to China.
“We have partnerships not just with China. We have partnerships with Japan, Korea, other countries, even European countries. I don’t think there’s a bias with China,” Villar said.
“Ang mga workers na pumupunta dito mga specialists. Kasi nagbibigay po sila ng bagong technologies. Ang pinapadala dito ay specialists ng ibang bansa pero karamihan ng workers ay Pinoy.”
