Senator Manny Pacquiao on Wednesday welcomed the resumption of police operations against the illegal drug trade, and dismissed speculations that drug-related killings will again rise as a result.
"Sabi ng Panginoon, lahat tayo magsubmit sa authority which is the government," Pacquiao said.
He believes that the number of killings will not increase.
President Rodrigo Duterte stopped the police-led Oplan Tokhang and turned anti-drug operations over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) after a South Korean businessman was kidnapped and killed allegedly by police on the premise of the war on drugs.
"Kung may operation at patuloy ka pa ring gumagawa, you are disobeying the command of the land and the command of God,” Pacquiao said.
He also allayed fears that abusive policemen will take advantage of the war on illegal drugs.
"Hindi naman tino-tolerate ang mga abusadong pulis, narinig natin sa Pangulo na, ‘Huwag ninyong abusuhin ang posisyon ninyo,’" Pacquiao said.
