MANILA — The Sandiganbayan has acquitted former national police chief Alan Purisima of perjury over his alleged failure to declare his wealth in full for 6 years.
Prosecutors failed to present enough evidence that Purisima failed to declare several properties in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) from 2006 to 2009 and 2007 to 2014, said the Sandiganbayan Second Division.
The court ordered the return of Purisima's bail bonds and the removal of a hold departure order against him.
The Sandiganbayan last month also dismissed for lack of probable cause graft and usurpation of official functions complaints against Purisima in connection with a botched anti-terror raid in 2015 that left dead 44 elite policemen.
More details to follow.
