Law enforcers have arrested the head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bacolod unit for alleged extortion in an entrapment operation in Bacolod City.

Police Major Melvin Madrona, who was also chief of the Negros Occidental CIDG, is accused of extorting P5,000 from a KTV bar.

Records from the Quezon City Police District showed Madrona was removed from his post for beating up a motorist in 2017.

He was assigned to the CIDG-Bacolod unit just last month.
