MANILA - The children and brothers of businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles refused to enter pleas during their arraignment on Thursday before the Sandiganbayan 3rd Division for 194 criminal cases in connection with the P900 million Malampaya fund scam.

Jo Christine and James Christopher Napoles, as well as Reynald and Ronald Francisco Lim did not enter any plea, prompting Associate Justice Bernelito Fernandez to enter not guilty pleas for them in 97 cases of graft and 97 cases of malversation of public funds.

Also arraigned is another co-accused in the cases, bank manager Winnie Villanueva, who also did not enter any plea.

The 5 are co-defendants of former Budget and Management secretary and now Camarines Sur 1st District Rep. Rolando Andaya and former Agrarian Reform secretary and current Masui, Lanao del Norte mayor Nasser Pangandaman.

Andaya’s arraignment was again canceled as he still has a pending motion to quash before the anti-graft court.

Napoles was also not arraigned because the Supreme Court has yet to formally issue the authority to transport her from the Correctional Institution for Women where she is imprisoned after her plunder conviction in connection with the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam.
