The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said a PNP utility worker, who was a Dengvaxia vaccine recipient, died of pneumonia.

Police Superintendent Dominic Guevarra, chief of clinics under the PNP General Hospital (PNP-GH), said the 20-year-old patient worked as a utility man at the facility for half a year.

The patient received a single dose of the anti-dengue vaccine Dengvaxia in December last year in Camp Crame. Days later, he complained of sore throat and muscle pain.

But the patient’s laboratory tests result revealed more than what the patient was complaining.

He said they could not link the death to the Dengvaxia vaccine administered to the patient.

Guevarra said the patient failed to declare his medical history before the vaccination procedure was done on him.

The patient was confined for days at the PNP General Hospital before he was transferred to bigger hospital.
