MANILA - Forty-eight new MRT coaches are expected to be operational soon as they underwent final stage of testing on Tuesday night.
The new Dalian trains from China will undergo a five-day testing period to determine if the signaling system is fully operational.
The testing started Tuesday evening and was administered by engineers from Bombardier, the company that supplies the signaling system to the MRT. Engineers from Dalian China where the new MRT coaches were purchased also joined the testing.
The new trains were used on weekends in May last year but their use had to be halted due to a lack of signaling system.
The installation of the upgraded signaling system was completed on February 15, 2017.
The new coaches are expected to be fully operational by the end of March.
