MANILA - Former Bureau of Corrections officer-in-charge Rafael Ragos, who is tagged in the drug charges against Senator Leila de Lima, will be detained at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), based on the commitment order issued by a Muntinlupa court.

Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court Branch 204 Judge Juanita Guerrero issued the order after the NBI presented Ragos before the court.

Ragos testified in a House inquiry last year that he delivered P10 million in drug payoffs to De Lima and her former driver, Ronnie Dayan, in separate occasions when the senator was still Justice secretary.

Last Thursday, the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court ordered the arrest of Ragos, De Lima, Dayan, former BuCor chief Franklin Jesus Bucayu, De Lima's reported nephew and aide Jose Adrian Dera, Joenel Sanchez, Wilfredo Elli, and Jaybee Sebastian.

Ragos surrendered to the NBI on Sunday and was transferred to a "secure facility" inside the bureau's headquarters.

De Lima, for her part, has repeatedly denied the accusations. She voluntarily surrendered Friday morning, hours after the arrest warrant was issued. -- Report from Zhander Cayabyab, DZMM
