COTABATO CITY -- The call for a federal form of government was rolled out in Region 12 and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Sunday, seeking support to back up President Rodrigo Duterte’s programs.
A federalism summit initiated and led by the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC) was held at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex inside the Office of the Regional Governor Compound in Cotabato City. It was participated in by members of the movement coming from Region 12 and ARMM.
The summit emphasized on what federalism means, its principles, gains and advantages, federalism vis-a-vis Bangsamoro Basic Law and the policy direction of President Duterte on shift to federalism system of government.
Agrarian Reform Secretary Atty. John Castriciones, who is also MRRD-NECC national president, said the summit will enrich the knowledge of Filipinos about federalism.
Castriciones also introduced the federalism model of MRRD-NECC, which will push for a federal parliamentary system.
Among those who attended the summit was Cotabato City Mayor Atty. Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi, who also expressed support to the call for federalism and pledged allegiance to the President’s programs.
A mass oathtaking of officers in Region 12 and ARMM was also held after the summit where the officials and members of the movement are expected to adhere to the advocacies to fight illegal drugs, corruption, insurgency and criminality.
