About P10 million worth of jewelry and P70,000 in cash were stolen by unidentified men from a jewelry kiosk located inside a commercial building in Iloilo City on Saturday.
The vault where the jewelry was stored was recovered at the grocery area.
"We were able to get latent prints on the vault and its surroundings. They hid the vault at the grocery area so that the security guard couldn't hear the noise," Police Chief Insp. Hilario Roga said.
Investigation showed that the security guard was positioned outside the building when the incident happened.
Based on the initial investigation, the suspects entered from the rooftop and used a rope to get inside the building.
Authorities believe that the suspects checked in at a nearby hotel.
"There is CCTV footage wherein the suspects checked in at a hotel. They were carrying an ax. So we will check the latent prints we can get inside the room and cross-match with what we have from the vault," Roga said.
Management of the commercial building refused to comment on the incident.
