DAVAO CITY - Retired Police Superintendent Dionisio Abude is surprised and dismayed over the statements made by his former colleague, retired SPO3 Arthur Lascañas, concerning the alleged Davao Death Squad.
Both were present during the Senate hearing about extra-judicial killings (EJKs) last October 2016 and both denied the existence of DDS.
Abude and Lascañas had worked together in the Heinous Crime Division.
"Syempre kinsa man dili matingala.. sa senado nagsulti mi nga kini ang nahitabo...wala gyud ko kabalo, wala ko kabalo asay tinood," Abude said.
(Of course, who would not wonder, during the Senate hearing, we said that there's no DDS, I don't know why all of a sudden he changed his statements.)
Meanwhile, Davao City Police Director S/Supt. Michael John Dubria said the police will continue to do their work to serve and protect the people of Davao.
"We will keep doing our respective jobs, our respective tasks..not to be affected by any statement or any press release at the national level," said Dubria.
Lascañas was assigned in the intelligence division of Bunawan police station for more than four years, and he retired last December 16, 2016.
The Duterte siblings, Davao City Mayor Sara and Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, have not released any statements yet on Lascanas' about-face, as of posting.
