MANILA - The commitment of plunder convict Janet Lim Napoles to the Correctional Institution for Women caused the cancellation of the first day of trial of the plunder case of former senator Juan Ponce Enrile in connection with the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam.
According to 3rd Division Clerk of Court Atty. Dennis Pulma, the scheduled hearing on Tuesday was canceled because there is still no authority from the Supreme Court to have Napoles transported from the CIW to the Sandiganbayan.
Pulma explained that Napoles cannot go anywhere as she is a “national prisoner” after the 1st Division convicted her of plunder in the case of former senator Bong Revilla.
Napoles’ cases in other divisions of the Sandiganbayan are also on hold because of the pending authority from the Supreme Court.
