MANILA - Former rebel leader Rodolfo Salas was arrested Tuesday morning in Pampanga for possession of a firearm and ammunition, police said.
The 72-year-old former leader of the Communist Party of the Philippines was among 38 persons ordered arrested by the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 32 last year for charges of murder. The court did not recommend bail.
Police implemented the court's warrant of arrest, which incidentally led to the confiscation of a .45 caliber pistol and ammunition, a police report showed.
Salas alias Ka Bilog was arrested in 1986 and granted amnesty in 1992 by former President Fidel V. Ramos.
