TOLEDO CITY, Cebu—Two people were killed while 10 others were injured after a cargo truck lost its brakes and fell to its side here early Saturday morning.
The fatalities were identified as Maria Janila Bantoy, 52, and Antonieta Villarmia, 53.
The injured were identified as Salome Olasiman, 51; Elmer Salondagit, 27; Generose Pinol, 8; Engracio Lato, 50; Lita Pinol, 51; Gloria Abalde, 56; Romeo Loyola, 45; Michael Pardillo, 20; Alona Albon, 16; and the driver of the truck, Roswel Sumbilon, 49.
The injured passengers were brought to hospital for treatment.
PO3 Carlos Barluado of Toledo Police Station said the vehicle lost its brake and fell on its right side.
The truck was carrying vegetables from Carbon Public Market to be delivered to Toledo and Balamban, Cebu.
The truck driver has been detained at the Toledo Police Station.
