MANILA - The Bureau of Customs (BoC) on Wednesday seized around P500,000 worth of misdeclared firearms and ammunition at a warehouse in Pasay City.
In a statement, the Customs unit of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport said it intercepted "eight pistol firearms, 20 ammunition magazines, and 266 live ammunitions" at the said warehouse.
The firearms, which were allegedly declared in two packages as a "solar panel" and a "tool cart," were discovered via profiling, the agency added.
The BoC said those in charge of shipping and storing the contraband would be charged for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
"The Bureau of Customs will continue to protect the country against entry and exit of contraband and will remain vigilant to protect all inbound and outbound packages," it said.
