MANILA (UPDATED) - A magnitude 4.3 earthquake rattled Leyte province on Wednesday dawn, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The quake struck at 1 a.m, eight kilometers northwest of Kananga town.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of eight kilometers, Phivolcs said.
The quake was felt at Intensity IV in the towns of Capoocan and Palompon in Leyte.
Intensity II, on the other hand, was recorded in Cebu City.
Phivolcs said no major damage was expected from the quake that is unlikely to spawn aftershocks.
